Hampstead Garden

Our intention was to create a secluded and lush garden, a green ‘cocoon’ in which the owners could feel at one with nature and escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. We excavated a large curved area at the centre of the garden to highten the sense of privacy and specified large blocks of cream limestone to create distinctive chunky steps into the new sunken space. Bamboos have been used to partially screen the different areas of the garden and a limited planting palette of ferns, hellebores, foxgloves and peonies helps unify the space.
